USING THE SETTINGS PAGE TO MANAGE TAGS
An Admin of a Zendesk Sell account can manage all existing Tags in the account, using the Settings page for Leads, Contacts and Deals accordingly. If you are for example responsible for organizing the whole workflow of your team, you can easily prepare a set of Tags to be used by everyone in the account.
NOTE: The list of tags for Leads, Contacts and Deals have to be created separately. There is also another category of Tags for the Prospects and Customers section. More information on the Customers and Prospects feature can be found in this support article.

When you first start using Zendesk Sell, there are no tags defined - you need to create your own tags in the Settings page. Let's use Leads Tags, as an example below:
- To create Leads Tags navigate to Settings. If you want them to affect all Contacts, add them to Customize > Leads > Tags. Click on the "+ Add Tag" button to add new Tags.
Tags can also be created in your account by one of these additional ways:
- Tags can be created directly when creating or editing a Lead, Contact or Deal. You just have to type in a new tag in the Tag field, hit enter and Save the edits (new tag won't be saved if you discard the changes).
- Tags can be also created during Import process, by selecting the option to "Add as Tags" for the data stored in one of the columns in your file.
- Tags specific to Leads will be automatically carried over to Contacts when converting a Lead. When you first covert a Lead with the non-empty tag, a new contact tag will be automatically created and labeled just as the lead tag.
To edit existing tags go to Settings and the appropriate Customize section (Leads, Contacts or Deals) and then choose a tag to edit, by clicking on the "Edit" button, next to a Tag. If you can't see the edit button next to the tags, it means you don't have permissions to edit them (see Tags Permissions section below).
How does that affect the Contacts tagged with the edited tag? The assignments won't change, all the tagged contacts will now display the changed tag label.
To delete a tag, select the red trash icon next to the tag (in Settings > Customize). You'll be prompted to confirm your choice. If you can't see the delete icon next to the tags, it means you don't have permissions to edit them.
Zendesk Sell let's users create Tags that are specific to their Prospects and Customers, to make it easier to keep all the relevant data exactly where they need it. Also every Tag that you set up for a Contact is automatically copied to the Prospects and Customers section, when this Contact is being assigned one of these statues. Therefore when you're willing to remove a Tag from Zendesk Sell completely, you must delete it from both these sections likewise.
Prospects and Customers Tags section can be accessed from Settings > Prospects and Customers > Tags. Use the link to navigate there directly.
An Admin of the account can decide whether non-Admin users in the account should be able to add, edit or remove Tags. If you want to enable users to add, modify and remove Tags, change the flag Tags can be added by from 'Admins only' to All Users, in the Tags Settings for Leads, Contacts and Deals accordingly.
NOTE: Tags are system-wide, which means that any Tag any user in the account creates will be visible to the whole team.
USER HIERARCHY TREE SPECIFIC SETTINGS
Editing Tags - you can edit tags created by you or your subordinates. To edit tags created by other users, you need to have admin privileges.
WHY CAN'T I DELETE TAGS FROM A LEAD, CONTACT OR DEAL?
You may notice that you are unable to delete tags from your account - no Edit or Delete button appears next to these tags.
This is due to your account permission settings. If you're a User Level on your account, you will be unable to delete Manager or Admin data from Zendesk Sell, including tags created by those users. You'll need to have those Tags deleted by a Manager or an Admin, or have your permissions upgraded to Manager or Admin level.
